How Recall Works
3 Step Process
Kt Jacobs can not be “fired” or removed by the City Council. She can only be recalled from office by a special election.
1. Petition the Council
Registered voters must sign a petition to ask for the City Council to declare a recall election. They only have 30 days to collect 2000 signatures.
2. Election Approved
If enough signatures are collected within 30 days and validated by the city clerk, the City Council will vote to accept the petition and hold a special election.
3. Vote in the Election
At the special election, residents of Columbia Heights will vote YES to recall Kt Jacobs from office. This will not prevent her from running as a candidate in a different race.
